Favorite Site Sales + My Picks For Cyber Monday

In real life, I am a girl who lives in nothing but casual basics.  Give me jeans, t shirts and cowgirl boots, and I am ready to go!  For your Cyber Monday saving pleasure, I've pictured a few items I could not live without, as well as a few I'd love to have. The cap toe flats I have put many clients in, and if you are someone who is on their feet during the day, I promise they are the most comfortable flats on the planet.  The Rag & Bone booties; well I don't own a pair, but I know they are the hottest thing since sliced bread. Those and the J. Brand flare jeans.

Here's a collection of several of my favorite little sercies. I recently purchased Jessica's watercolor lips print for my home office renovation.  A few of my peeps will be getting the holiday Mr. and Mrs. Cocktail glasses or the gold urchin which is just about the most fun thing in my life since wearing jammies all day for a movie marathon over Baileys in my coffee.  Really hoping someone in my life will deem me worthy of the Eugenia Kim or Loeffler Randall.

Small Business Saturday

Do you shop small?  As serial star-gazing entreprenuer it is something I truly believe in, and living in here the Queen City we have the luxury of so many hip one of a kind businesses from which to choose. The Saturday after Thanksgiving was first declared Small Business Saturday in 2010, and so tomorrow I encourage you to eat, drink, shop, splurge; do it all... local!  I’ve had wonderful opportunities to collaborate with some really outstanding businesses around town. Here are just a few, so please do pay them a visit, whether you’re doing your holiday shopping or recovering from it!

If are the owner of a local business and would like to promote your brand on the Queen City Style, let me know. I would love to collaborate and get creative with you!

Happy Shopping! Whitley

Beth Lee Art (My Mama!)

Y'all, I am really, really proud of my mama and her newly discovered talent to paint.  I thought it had only been about 18 months, but today she let me know it's been three years since she's kinda sorta put aside her golf addiction for her painting one.  However long it's been, I'm really, really proud of her and I am so impressed by every new piece she paints. For all you South Carolina beach-goers, many of Moms paintings are of various scenes captured around one of our family vacation spots, Pawleys Island. While Moms work largely reflects her time spent on the North Carolina and South Carolina coasts, her love of beaches knows no prejudice. Just in time for the holidays, I'm showcasing several of her works of art currently for sale.  If you are intersested in learning more, or would like to place a request for a commission, please email her directly at:

After serving as a flagship fixture on East Boulevard for 20 years, the Queen City's lingerie go-to has moved to a newly renovated, open air space at The Village at SouthPark.  To share the excitement, the store has extended a private 20% discount to all readers of the Queen City Style through Saturday, November 23. Just mention this post at check out. The holiday season is getting close.  Ladies, in all the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping and buying and doing for others, I am here to tell you there is no time like the present to buy something for yourself.  Go get yourself some high quality comfortable jammies.  Feel good about yourself and still be cozy.  I.C. Along Came Polly

A few pictures here from my visit to Chapel Hill last year for a little photoshoot fun with my dear friend Roy Rice.  Yes they are chaps, no the gun was not loaded, no animals were harmed in my lifetime for the sake of this photo shoot, and yes a woman on her cell phone walked by and told the person on the other end (in a very terrified manner), "there are people very close to me holding a gun!"  Oh, and just in case you did not know the King of the Wild Frontier, David "Davy" Crockett's wife's name, it was Polly.  Polly wasn't the first woman Davy proposed marriage to, but against her parent's better wishes, Polly is the one he married.  If you've got great passion for The Old North State, I know you will love Roy's photographic interpretations of gorgeous scenery, local folk and, of course, magical places all around the UNC campus. Like Roy's facebook page to keep up with his candid, ungoverned emotion for what his eyes and heart see through the lens of a camera.

Thanks so much for being here, Whitley

Check them out here.  I'm off to Richmond, Virginia for a half marathon.  Weather looks chilly, but not rainy!  Wish me luck, and Precious Peanut #1 at his soccer game since sadly, I will be missing it. I am, however, looking forward to a fun weekend with a long time family friend and an awesome newbie as well!

Happy Weekend Y'all!

Two Years

Today the Queen City Style turns two!  As I sit here, I deliberate just what to write. This happens a lot.  I think, type, delete, type, delete.  It's safe to say I struggle sharing all that I am thinking. I want to be real with you people, and I am, but I think there also needs to be some level of intrigue. Like dating. It's no mystery though how giddily silly and excited I was creating this very first post. Lucky Magazine ran my story on their back page, and the rest is history.  I'll never forget my excitement. Who knew a career would blossom for that story, this blog?  I had no idea, but I could not be happier about it.  I am excited for every opportunity to collaborate, style and create, and I have met some of the most awesome, fun and cool collegues, clients and friends along the way.  It's been validating to know there are so many other dreamers out there like me.  If I keep going in this direction, I run the risk of this sounding more like a journal entry than a fashion blog post, so I'll sign off sharing photos and a link to the Queen City Style's very first post.  Most important of all, thank you so much for being here and being a part of my joy!

With so much love and appreciation,

Let Your Hair Down

Dress: c/o Belk. Shoes: Stuart Weitzman. Hairpiece: JewelMint. Photography: By Tatyana M. Hair and Makeup: By Heather Cole. Stylist: Caroline Hamlin Byrnes of Belk.

I adore this short dress I wore for the second part of my shoot with the Young Affiliates of the Mint. More glam, of course, but Caroline styled a more casual look, which Heather completed by curling my hair into a sophisticated bob. I hope you'll join me in letting your hair down at the inaugural Fall Ball this Friday, November 8th, benefiting the Mint Museum.

Styling Lauren Egan

Lauren Egan is one of the sweetest, most precious girls with whom I've had the chance to recently work.  I teamed up with my crew, Doug Brooks and Deme Fourtounis, otherwise known these days as my ''other family'' for a fun day in the studio and on the streets of Noda.  Styled with a combination of modern Anthropologie threads and a few vintage as well as modern favorites from my own accessories collection, this last outfit is one of my favorites of all time.  Cyndi Lauper meets Carrie Brandshaw equals Girl's Totally Gonna Have Fun.

Thanks so much for letting me share my fun!
