One more day and 2012 is a wrap!  Keeping this short and sweet... Grateful for my blessings and (yes) struggles, I entered 2012 saying out loud "This is going to be a great year!"  For many reasons it was one of the most difficult years and for many reasons, including the Queen City Style and you, it was one of the greatest.  Thanks for being here with me. If the Queen City Style delivers you a fraction of the joy I receive sharing it with you, I consider 2012 a W-I-N.  May 2013 bring you and your loved ones many blessings, great opportunity, hope, faith, patience and understanding for others, will, determination and strength, good health, and most importantly, lots and lots of love... and anything else I may have neglected to include that you are seeking.  In my best effort to choose my favorite looks for 2012, counting backwards, here are my personal Top 10 favs.  I've looked at these, and I wonder, is there consistency?  What do these images say about my personal style?  Do you have an opinion??  Do you have a favorite here?  Is there something more or different you'd like to see?  I would love to know.  Once again, a big 'ole THANKS for being here!!!

At some point I'll have to write a post about my favorite neighborhood spots in the Queen City.  I have my short list, from which I rarely stray, but there's only one Thomas Street Tavern. Back in the day this might as well have been my home away from home.  Totally a fraternity groupie.  If you've been there, you know the cool factor.  Now that I'm a little more settled down and all grown up (right), I don't make it over there as often, but walking through those doors felt like yesterday. If you take a stool at the bar, don't be surprised to be sitting between a truck driver and an investment banker; an actress to your left and a pool shark to your right. Thomas Street Tavern is salt of the earth cool, unpretentious and friendly; the perfect location to don my favorite new T-shirt that makes me insta-happy just wearing it.  All You Need Is Love.

By way of super sweet and stylish fellow Queen City blogger, Elspeth, I first laid eyes on this skirt. It was love at first sight, and after I saw the price, I just had to have her.  I've been wearing it all through the fall and winter seasons. I'd go so far as to say this is the perfect year round piece!  Do you have a favorite item that suits all four seasons?

I'm not exactly sure where my Grandmother got this skirt, but I know it came from some far off country during her world travels with my Grandfather.  Some of the coolest things she owns she purchased during her travels, and I was always so fascinated by the garments.  You could just tell they were made different from all the rest.  This skirt is no exception.  It has always been one of my favorite inheritance pieces from her; definitely a top pick for my holiday go-to attire. Donna and I had so much fun shooting over at Arooji's Wine Room.  If you live in the Queen City, head on over to the Shops at Morrison and cozy up to a glass for yourself... Great food, tasty vino, delightful environment and friendly conversation.  Here I go again with this is one of my favorite outfits, but really it is.  I think it totally speaks to my more common "boho" style by day, and it's so much fun to pair shorts, tights and boots!  Do you agree? 

We are all still grieving the heartbreak in Connecticut.  We have to treat one another with love and kindness. I am praying for those families affected, as I know we all are.  Thank you so much for taking time to be here with me.

Vintage Tartan Plaid

Have you noticed that Tartan Plaid is everywhere?  You probably know I'm more into going against the grain than following the trends, but thanks to my favorite winter coat, my Grandmother's Pendleton classic, I'll be wearing Tartan Plaid year after year for the rest of my life. I'm not kidding, however, when I tell you this is the most well-made coat I have ever owned.  I've had the coat probably 12 years, and it must be at least 30 years old.  My mother could probably speak better to that, but at any rate, it is the perfect coat... The lining is impeccable, the weight and length are just right, and the fabric is flawless.  Plaid perfection!  I was not able to find a Tartan Plaid Pendleton, but here's a solid Pendleton classic in red and one in black, and my top picks for current Tartan Plaid coats are here and here.  Thanks for reading!
