As I mentioned, Most Wonderful Man in the World and I headed to Aiken, SC recently to celebrate our wedding anniversary.  Aiken is one of my favorite little towns.  It reminds me of a South Carolina mini version of my North Carolina hometown of Asheville, so of course I'm gonna love it.  My favorite lunch spot in Aiken is The New Moon Cafe. They offer an array of tasty comfort foods, using fresh local produce and ingredients, (like my yummy kale and fruit smoothie) served in sunny, laid back atmosphere.  The day we arrived was a perfectly gorgeous day for strolling downtown, have a few hand crafted brews and watching college football at Aiken Brewing Company, golf for the hubs, and window shopping and an afternoon run for me.  Of course I didn't wear my new Charlie 1 Horse boots on my run, but I've pretty much been wearing them everywhere else since I purchased them here over my last trip home to Asheville.

My recent close encounter with Madonna shed a little inspiration for the title of today's post.  I recently had the pleasure of meeting some of the C&C California team when I attended the LuckyFABB conference in NYC.  This dress arrived at my doorstep a couple of weeks ago after my entry into a contest to style some of their threads.  I have worn it four times in the last week... three times under denim jacket, different shoes and jewelry; once over chambray shirt.  I love anything that provides me with great versatility and a strong RIO.  A few other points to note, I am obsessed with my new clutch and necklace, and did you happen to notice anything new with my pictures? I can barely contain my excitement over a new collaboration with the super creative and fun photographer Donna Jernigan... more to come!

At The Cabin + Clutch Giveaway Winner

My family recently gathered at my Dad's to try to catch a family photo for our Christmas card.  We snapped a few outfit pics for the Queen City Style while there.  As per usual, I'm wearing my Charlie 1 Horse boots (AKA my winter Rainbows), which I loved paired here with one of my favorite sweaters that belonged to my Grandmother.  A rare item for her wardrobe, I think it speaks well to my preferred laid back boho style by day. With two little ones, getting one good picture out of 100 is not always easy.  I was thinking of going with this one.  What do you think?

Madonna, My First Marathon And More

It has been one busy week!  Wednesday night I gave a presentation to the most delightful group of women.  I spoke on the topic of 'Finding Your Personal Style' to a neighborhood garden club.  I admitted to right away it was my first time presenting on behalf of the Queen City Style, and I think they took it pretty easy on me.  Everyone seemed to have a great time.  I know I did!

Then came Thursday night; a night I have been waiting for my entire life.  I saw Madonna live in concert.  Here's a picture of me as a little girl with a poster of Madonna hanging behind me, performing perhaps my most favorite of her songs, Dress You Up.

I purchased the tickets back in February and originally planned to post about the show every month leading up to the concert, but we all know about not having enough time.  I, myself, could not believe I did not have a clue what I was going to wear until the night prior to the show, but I ended up happy with some garb already in my closet. I ran to the nearest costume for the pies de resistance, finger-less black lace gloves.  How'd I do?

I paid my fanny in savings for seats on the sixth row.  Here's my girl, Madge, doing her scantily-clad thing.  She's totally still got it.  There are no words to describe the caliber of the performance of this show or the choreography.  She performed Like A Prayer, just before the closing performance.  My life is complete.

My new friend, Derek, was dying over the gloves, so I gave him one at the end of the show.  So fun!

Saturday morning I woke up early to run my first marathon.  Wow, it was hard.  I qualified for Boston with a time of 3:29.  Very excited, but I did say this would be my first and only!

The fan support is always awesome at races.  There was certainly no shortage for this one!

Most Wonderful Man in the World and the Precious Peanuts were on the course five times!  It's been a long road of training and lots of Saturday mornings out of the house.  

I am grateful for the support!!
