I know I say a lot of times here that so-and-so is my favorite new such-and-such, but this dress really might take the cake.  When my friends at summerbird asked me to assist with styling their runway looks for this year's Style Night Out, I about fell on my fanny when I tried on this dress. Truth be told, the already fashioned ensemble seen on the runway here (toward the bottom) did not need a thing from me. I think I did fall on my fanny, however, when summerbird gifted me the dress.  I love a tulip shaped hem line.  Could anything be more ladylike sophisticated? The dress originally retails for $1,695, but I was able to find it on line here discounted by 80%!

I've probably received more complements on this clutch than any single item I own. It's the perfect size, shape and weight, and the shimmery tones make it so versatile; perfect for almost any outfit. If I had to pick one look on this blog that most reflects my personal style this would probably be it. I wear my favorite Gap 1969 denim jacket probably 300 days of the year and my hair pulled back 365.  I find the jacket to be of perfect weight for both of the transitional seasons, and I'm able to wear it in the summer and winter some as well.  Most of the accessories are staples; the earrings are my favorite, all of the rings, the vintage gold bracelets and the sunglasses.  The dress, which I had tailored to fit, belonged to my Grandmother. I love the dramatic draping in the front and back.  I changed into it the night of our wedding, hitting several bars post-reception, then ultimately crashing our own hospitality suite!  I am typically drawn to unexpected juxtaposition, which I think is going on here by toning down an otherwise semi-formal dress with denim and edgy accessories.  I think I would call my style 'Boho Glam'.  Do you have a signature style?

Queen City Sister of the Sea

The ladies of Lipp Boutique generously asked me to participate in a fundraiser they recently hosted.  They loaned me this outfit to wear to the event; a lovely evening of shopping, sipping and styling, in which a portion of the proceeds from sales were donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte.  Waxed denim is a hot item right now.  I had fun styling this super comfy green pair with a simple but sophisticated cream blouse and this fun and functional wrap leather belt.  I piled the jewels on high for added texture, then topped the outfit off with a patterned silk scarf, hoop earrings and my favorite sunglasses.  I look at this and feel like I would fit right in with the pirates of the sea, so I guess that's me... the Queen City Sister of the Sea!

The Best Bridesmaid Dress (and Skirt)

I love bright color!  Any color that is bright, happy and fun is perfect.  I was drooling like my Precious Peanut #1 at the frozen yogurt shop when I got my hands on this skirt by budding Charlotte designer Cigi Guz.  I love it all; the colors, the shape, the sexy yet poised delight this skirt so sweetly pronounced when she called my name from across the boutique.  "Yoo hooo! Whitleey! Ova heeere! Would so love for you to come on ova and jawn me."  I just love this lil' lady.  Don't you?  I paired the skirt over my best bridesmaid dress of all time.  We all have the best of intentions in picking a bridesmaid dress that can be worn again, but my Dawg takes the gold for choosing such a truly versatile dress.  Can't wait to show you the matching jacket to this gorgeous suit!

Neiman Marcus Fall Preview and What I Wore

I recently attended the Neiman Marcus at South Park Fall 2012 Preview event to learn about many fabulous things they have in store for the fall season.  From beauty brands to fall fashion and accessories, despite falling temps, it's all hot.  Admittedly, I have a lot to learn when it comes to make up and beauty products, but I was so impressed by the featured brands and their products, I found myself yearning to take better care of my skin and immediately wanting to get to work on my personal beauty presentation.  Brands shared with us included:

• Amore Pacific
• Bobbi Brown
• Chantecaille 
• Clinique
• Dior
• Estee Lauder 
• Sisley 
• Veneffect 

The morning proceeded with a fall fashion and accessories trend report which spoke to every cell in my body:

• Mixed Greens: Alone or in a combination, it's all about green to spruce your wardrobe.
• The Jacket: Lots of great coats and jackets from which to choose!
• The Smoking Slipper: The luxury loafer is the most flat out chic trend of the season.
• The Leather Leg: Second-skin tight or a little more loose fitting, leather (and waxed denim!) is everywhere this season.
• Navy: I am loving this hot color paired with brights and, yes, black!
• The Statement Handbag: Lots of shapes and sizes from which to choose... all luxurious.
• Borrowed From The Boys: Nothing Coco ever did was wrong.  Many have watched and learned.  Menswear influences for her, also known as the Androgynous look, is back. 
• Digital Prints: Modern and chic.  Layer it on and layer it all over; give me pattern!
• Brooches: The hottest accessory of the season; be it one alone or in a cluster.  Love.
• The Fall Face:  Bright red cherry lips.  Nudes are out, brights are now!
