Sweater: J. Crew (so old!), Shirt: Forever 21, here's one. Shorts: Jessica Simpson, here's a pair. Shoes: Ann Roth Shoes. Purse: Coach (old). Belt: Most Wonderful Man in the World's. Sunglasses: Blindehere's a less expensive pair. Earrings: My favorite-Luv Aj. Bracelets: Stella & Dot, J. Crew, My Grandmother's. Rings: Tiffany, custom by Diamonds Direct.

Two things in this post resonate with me.  If you know me personally or see me on a regular basis, you know I wear these jean shorts almost every day.  I am a walking contradiction of myself.  I think this is is for a couple of reasons; I try to jam as much as possible in any allotment of time, literally running everywhere I go, and I simply don't have the time to consider the way I look.  My Grandmother would not like hearing this, but it is in any case, the truth of the matter.  That said, I do look forward to the opportunity to put my best foot forward on a special occasion (or blog post:), but in the meantime I say goodbye to my faithful shorty blues until the next season.  The second thing I want to share with you is THESE SHOES!  My dear friend, actress and designer, Ann Roth, sent me these shoes.  I planned on sending them back to her, but it is not going to happen.  I simply could not part once I put them on my feet.  I'm so excited, because Ann is sharing the love by offering 20% off her entire shoe and bag collection!  Just enter THEQUEENCITY (all caps) at check out.  Happy Shopping!  Happy Weekend!

Thanks for reading!!

Today I'm linking up for Marionberry Style's Trend of the Month Challenge.  In the event you could not decipher on your own, this month's theme is Animal Prints.  It's been a busy week for me, and since I've no shortage of animal print posts, I have put together a collection of images reflecting some of my many outfits incorporating animal prints.  I have gotten great use out of these animal print pumps by Nine West.  They are comfortable, well made, and you really can't beat the price.  Here are a few current animal prints I'm loving.  Santa, I know it's a bit early, and I do not normally ask for such things, but this?? PRETTY PLEASE.

Dress: J. Crew (old), here's the current version. Jacket: c/o Cigi Guz. Shoes: Steve Madden. Gloves: My Great-Grandmother's, SO excited about this pair. Clutch: Coach (old), here's one. Sunglasses: Blinde, but here's a less expensive pair. Handkerchief: Gift from my Mother-In-Law. Broach: Belonged to my Grandmother-In-Law, here's one. My Earrings: Old, but I love these. Bracelets: Stella & Dot, my Grandmother's.

I styled my favorite Bridesmaid dress as a top in yesterday's post, pairing it with the skirt that is the match to this gorgeous floral print jacket.  Had my own wedding been in the spring versus fall, I would have opted for my Bridesmaids to wear little white gloves like these which belonged to my Great-Grandmother.  I just love old sophistication.  It is clothes like these that make it hard for me to say goodbye to summer.  I love all these bright, saturated hues.  They are so fun and happy, which I think tend to make me fun and happy :). How about you?

Thanks so, so, so much for being here!!  Whitley

Dress worn as top: J. Crew (old), here's current version. Skirt: c/o Cigi Guz. Shoes: Steve Madden. Sunglasses: Blinde, but here's a less expensive pair. Clutch: Coach (old), here's one. Colored Bracelets: Bakelite thanks to summerbird.  Other Bracelets: Belonged to Grandmother and Grandmother-in-Law. Earrings: old, but here's a pair. Rings: Tiffany and custom by Diamonds Direct.

I love bright color!  Any color that is bright, happy and fun is perfect.  I was drooling like my Precious Peanut #1 at the frozen yogurt shop when I got my hands on this skirt by budding Charlotte designer Cigi Guz.  I love it all; the colors, the shape, the sexy yet poised delight this skirt so sweetly pronounced when she called my name from across the boutique.  "Yoo hooo! Whitleey! Ova heeere! Would so love for you to come on ova and jawn me."  I just love this lil' lady.  Don't you?  I paired the skirt over my best bridesmaid dress of all time.  We all have the best of intentions in picking a bridesmaid dress that can be worn again, but my Dawg takes the gold for choosing such a truly versatile dress.  Can't wait to show you the matching jacket to this gorgeous suit!

Thanks for being here!!!  Lots of these from my heart... xxxooo, Whitley

the Queen City Style Featured...

Image via
I think everyone here knows of my love for fabulous interior design. Earlier this week I was so tickled to discover one of the nicest features of the Queen City Style written by a Charlotte design blogger.  Cheryl's words came across so poetic and lovely to me, and the images she featured in a little outfit-to-room interpretation are so brilliant, I just had to share!  Am I the only one with a fashion AND design addiction?  Click here to see the feature and read more about some of Cheryl's design obsessions.

Style Night Out; The Runway

This post is chocked full of runway looks from Style Night Out.  Everything was fabulous; the clothes, the models, hair, make up, people watching (oh yea), the friendly, happy vibe.  I've said this before, but my favorite thing about fashion is that there is so much room for interpretation.  I think you will see that in the images included.  Below is a list of the boutiques who participated, as well as a few personal notations.  Sadly, I have not included looks from every boutique either because of chatter, bad photography or the likes. I had an early morning to follow, so I left after my friend Cigi Guz (V.Vill) presented her line. I am unable to assign every look to a boutique, so if there is something you see here and you want to know where you may purchase it for yourself, let me know, and I will find out for you.  Enjoy the eye candy!

Capital L.O.V.E this look, and she wears it so well.
Would love to have those pants if anyone out there with power is reading!

A fellow fashion blogger, Blair Eadie, recently wore the below dress and knocked it out of the park.
I was very excited when Our Place Boutique showed it here on our Queen City runway!

I'm feeling a Rachel Zoe kind of moment with this next look.

Love the ingenuity of this...

Then along came these nice little diversions...

Excellent display of class and sophistication...

Love these (again!) if the powers that be are out there reading, and they are size 9...

She is FAB-U-LOUS...

I love seeing a little relaxation when it comes to those fashion 'rules'.
Wear what makes you happy, when it makes you happy...

Trending uniform, studs and gold all in one...

I did not photograph the lingerie, but here's a daring swim look...

One of my favorite looks of the night...

And here's my other fav.  I'd wear this entire look in a skinny second.
This skirt was made from a tablecloth... YES, yes, yes.

I would love to hear which looks are your favorites!
Hope you enjoyed this Style Night Out recap in pictures,
Whitley
