Valentine's Day Wish List At Belk

Y'all know how much I love me some Modern. Southern. Style.  So much so that today's Weekly Inspiration comes in the form of my Valetine's Day Wish List from Belk.  Here are a few things I need, want and love or just flat out day dream of having.  I'm kind of letting a secret out of the bag with this one. I've been wearing the same perfume since I was 15 years old when I first caught a wiff of it via a best friend's vanity. Compared to the millions of other options on the market, two things about this one work for me; it costs next to nothing, and it works.  Kind of it Katy Perry Dark Horse works.  I've been carrying my Coach Classics Leather Stewardess hand me down for 15 years.  It's a durable and classic bag well crafted of understated quality.  I think my boys would look precious in these matching hoodies, and can you belive I don't have fighting Aries jewels to adorn me?  Several of the items I've featured are on sale.  Gotta love a Belk sale. What better reason to go gifting and getting!

Carpool Style

I'm amping up my carpool style for you today.  On most occasions you'll find me in my running gear, but on the days I get the run out of the way first thing, I'm likely wearing something like this. Photographers Kristia Knowles and Doug Brooks took the helm with Deme Fourtounis styling makeup and hair.  How about that beaded number one of my clients passed on to me just prior to the shoot?  Eighties glam at it's finest paired perfectly with the decor.

Meet Harriet And Ninja










I am so excited.  Like I can't even begin to tell you for one milisecond how excited I am to introduce you to Harriet May.  Harriet is a running friend who answered my somewhat desperate sounding call for childcare over Facebook this past fall.  Things have been progressing in a great way here at the Queen City Style and with my wardrobe styling.  The word thrilled could serve as a launching pad for how I feel about it all. One mind is only good for so much, however, and having Harriet's to bounce ideas off of; or quite frankly right out take the reigns of is like the sound of total silence to my ears, glass of fine chilled wine in my hand accompanied by fiercly delicious cheese on my plate all while my aching feet soak in an ice bath and getting a hurt so good knuckle massage all in my scapula.

No Pants Light Rail Ride








Last year was the inaugural year for the Charlotte No Pants Light Rail Ride.  If you missed it but heard about it later, hysterical.  The No Pants Subway Ride is an annual global event started by Improv Everywhere in New York City in 2002, and it has since grown to an international phenomenon.  Charlotte, however, is the ONLY city whose thigh baring event benefits a charitable cause.  Last year 200 articles of clothing were collected for Warm Charlotte.  So, come on out to the Scaleybark station this Saturday, January 11th at 3pm, drop your pants for some philanthropic light hearted fun and join the ride! Look And Feel Your Best In The New Year

Happy New Year Y'all!  Have you made any resolutions for 2014?  I always strive to be the best version of me I can be, but for the immediate I'm thinking about giving up alcohol for Lent. THINKING.  I've done this twice before, but neither of those times did I have children.  I really enjoy an adult beverage at the end of the day.  Some of you may know I have plans to run the Boston Marathon which is Easter Monday. In anticipation of this, I really want to get serious with my training and overall good health.  I know eliminating alcohol from my diet would help with hydration, among other things.  Giving up wine will not be an easy task for me, but saying it out loud, and now, writing it down for others to see, seems to somewhat commit me further.  Oh boy. In the meantime, check out my article on page 22 in this month's Charlotte Parent Magazine where I'm sharing my short list of recommendations for feeling and looking your best.
