What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?

I came across this local version of the popular song "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" via a photographer friend's page, and it is just too cute not to share.  Doesn't it make you want to fall in love all over again?  Such a sweet sweet tune for you all to enjoy...

Happy almost New Year everyone!

Styling Merritt Hunt

I recently had a blast styling blond gamazon Merrit Hunt at the Heels.com office atop the Nascar Hall of Fame building in uptown Charlotte. Working alongside Daytona Beach, Florida based photograher, Kristia Knowles and Charlotte photographer Doug Brooks, this particular weekend was one of creative collaboration and fun for all.  Thanks to one of my tres hip clients, I walked on set with some pretty fantastic 80's-inspired garb for one of our two days of shooting. I look forward to sharing more.  Any other Material Girls out there?

His Plaid Shirt

Shirt and Jeans: c/o Gap. Shoes: Nine West (old), love these.  Sunglasses: Ray Ban.  Earrings: Thanks to JoJo Loves You.

Nothing fancy here today.  I've been eating, without pause, for the last 48 hrs.  So, it's all spandex and grannies for me.  These are just a few more pics from my day in the studio with Jon Silla and Deme Fourtounis.  The images were intended as part of my little denim promotion for Gap Southpark, but I ran out of time after posting these pictures.  There's nothing easier than pairing one of his shirts with your denim and any pair of shoes from sneaks to heels to boots and calling it a day.  The one I'm wearing here is sold out, but I like this one and this one.

I hope you and yours had a very Merry Christmas and hopefully are able to enjoy
some down time this week with those you love.  I am grateful for you.

Get This For Your Girl For Christmas

I love every opportunity I get to style and create and at 36 I pinch myself daily because there really is nothing else I would rather be doing.  Ask me two years ago, and I could not have said that.  I would drink coffee, create and sleep (as per this t-shirt I discovered by way of my friend Holly's awesome style crack blog) for free all of the time if it weren't for the cost of childcare.  When my friend, Charlotte's Godfather of photography, Jon Silla, offered me a day of fun in his studio, I knew I could not say no.  I called out for my girl Deme to make me feel prettier than anyone else can and on a whim thought how fun would it be to video document our day of flashes, music, pie, libations and laughter. Thanks to PJ Barnes for putting the icing on the cake.  So fellas, we are down to the wire on Christmas shopping. If you have not yet gotten your lady a gift, and you think she would enjoy a day of glamour, may I suggest this?  Not much brings me more joy than helping other people look and feel their best, and if mama may say, it was really fun being on the receiving end of all that shooshing!

If you or someone you know might enjoy a day of glamour, I would love to help you get it!

Styling Addie McBryde

I was so excited when young extraordinarily talented Charlotte based photographer Zach Alston reached out to me to style this shoot with him.  This was a day of firsts for me, including working with the unassuming yet undeniably stunning model, Addie McBryde and the very talented Sarah Havas on hair and make up.  We shot on location at Landsford Canal State Park just outside of Rock Hill, SC.  Despite our well laid plans to capture at least eight looks, it was comic relief achieving the five seen here.  Needless to say, this was one of my favorite shoots to date in that I was able to cultivate ensembles adhereing to my naturally unlogical sense of style.  Wardrobe consisted of current Anthropologie stunners, including items seen in the first and last photos, combined with threads from my own closet and several belonging to my Grandmother.

Thank you for letting me share my passion.

Chip and Pepper California

Denim and Shirt thanks to Chip & Pepper California.  Boots: Charlie 1 Horse for Lucchese.  Glasses: RayBan. Photograhy: Jon Silla.  Hair and Makeup: Deme Fourtounis.

An old new line of denim and casual wear has made its way from the California coast right here to the Queen City.  Do you remember the names Chip and Pepper? Think waaay back. It all started in the 1980's for Canadian born identical twin brothers, Chip and Pepper, when they began selling t-shirts and bathing suits out of the back of their truck.  The zany duo also made it big on screen with their own television show.  In 2003, Chip and Pepper launched their first premium vintage denim line called, as you may recall, Chip & Pepper.  Well now, thanks to a partnership with the dynamic denim making duo, Belk has added Chip & Pepper California to a total of 100 Belk stores and Belk.com. At $78, I am the proud owner of three pairs of my new favorite comfortable denim.  The pair I'm wearing here is now on sale at Belk for $27.29. Yes, that's correct.  Hot denim in crazy town.  That is less than you will pay for jeans at Walmart.

Peace and love, Whitley
