Not So Mellow Yellow

Hello Friends!
I'm linking up today with the lovely Marion of Marionberry Style
for her Trend of the Month challenge.  This month's theme?
You got it... Yellow!  Yellow is such a fun, happy color; perfect
for the warm summer months. I'll admit, I get a little excited with
these fashion challenges.  The thematic direction really gets my creative
juices flowing.  I love scanning my wardrobe and pulling all of the
individual pieces I feel are potential candidates to help complete
the ensemble.  It's like a team, and each of the players has a job to do.
I get so excited to see how all the pieces will pull together.  I find the little
bit of friendly competition has me putting my best foot forward, and
I enjoy viewing the works of so many other talented fashion bloggers.
I hope you will enjoy this little bit of yellow inspired fashion!
Thanks Marion!

This particular ensemble reminds me so much of one of my favorite
fashion bloggers, the cute and super fun, Neris, of Fashion Fractions.

Room-to-Outfit Collaboration with The Aestate

Happy day my most stylish friends!
Today I'm proud to present to you a very special guest,
Jessica Rowe, author of The Aestate.  There's not a day Jessica
doesn't leave me drooling over images of fabulous interiors, as well as
her own personal selections for some of the most lovely elements for
design.  The girl has got a killer sense of style, and a killer wit to suit.
For today's post, Jessica and I teamed up for a little room-to-outfit
fashion interpretation.  She sent me three completely different images
from which to choose.  I had such a hard time deciding.  We ultimately
went with the following imagine.  Be sure to check out Jessica
and all her outrageous glory on The Aestate.
Pinterest Who?  I mean it.
Without further adieu...

Geometric Print Cardigan and Evening Shorts

I am loving this black, pink and white geometric print cardigan
I recently discovered. It is SO reminding me of my
Grandmother's closet during the 1980's.
It has a nice weight to it, loosely clinging to you
like a feather gracefully floating through the air.
We took it to Phillip's Place in the Queen City
on this lovely day of warm sunshine and cool breeze,
and I was later surprised with one of the coolest props to date.

Cardigan: Urban Outfitters, here's the same one in a different print,
or here's one, or here.  Any of these offer the designed fit.
Shirt: Banana Republic (old) this one's navy blue, but super hot.
Shorts: Urban Outfitters, here's a pair I am dying to have.
Sunglasses: Borne Natural Born Thrillers-Doctor's Vision Center
here's a similar, lower priced pair.

The Memorial Holiday Weekend is approaching,
and this typically means there are a few things on which you can count.
Lots of sunshine, a day of rest, cold bevvies, the lake, the beach, the pool...
Some form of water. And yes, you know it, all kinds of fabulous sales!
Have you met JoJo Loves You?
If not, please allow me to introduce you to all of her fabulous BLING!

Each of these beauties are hand made of Swarovski crystals,
and the earrings come in literally every color of the rainbow!
Naturally, I'm drawn to the blingiest of them all.

Immediately Bridesmaid Gifts comes to my mind.

I did have the most precious earrings made by a friend for each of
my maids, but how perfect are these earrings for bridesmaid gifts?
Or just to have and to hold all to yourself.
I think these psychedelic bauble bombs are going to have to be mine.

Naturally, JoJo Loves You is on board with the weekend's retail madness.
The Bling you see above normally retails for $30/pair,
but this Friday through Monday, here's what you're looking at:

Oh Geez.  I didn't need to see this. I just took a glance at their SALE page,
and now I see this Agate Pendant. AND, there is only ONE remaining.
What am I going to do?
Surely somebody out there is feeling guilty about forgetting
my birthday, or you just pity me and think this necklace will help.
It really will make everything better.
Freak.  Why did I have to see this?

I gotta go get my piggy bank and calculator.
In the meantime, get your own JoJo Loves You Bling here!
Also on Facebook and Twitter.

For the love of all things stylish and all things Bling,
I hope you are having a wonderful week!  Whitley

These J. Brand snake print jeans are pretty sexy.

Vintage Keyhole Gown and Turban

Last week I attended my first Charlotte Magazine BOB Awards event.
It was held at the NC Music Factory, where most wonderful man
in the world and I recently ventured for dinner and these photos.
Admittedly, I did spend a little bit of time in debate over what to wear.
I had it narrowed down to three choices and ultimately went with this.

Lilly Rubin Vintage Cream Key hole gown, silk turban and JJ Winters clutch

The dress is one of my favorites.
It is a vintage Lillie Rubin that belonged to my Mom.
She got it in Greenville, South Carolina about 40 years ago to
wear to a party.  She carried it along through her many moves over
the years, because she thought it was so lovely.  I am so glad she did!
Once the turban occurred to me, my decision was made.
This is a fun and funky way to dress down an otherwise formal dress.
I threw the formality back in the ensemble by wearing my wedding shoes.
Ironically enough, precious pea #1 exclaimed as he saw me dressed,
"Mommy, is that your wedding dress?!"
Pitter Patter Heart Beat.

Dress: Vintage Lillie Rubin, here's one and here, this available in cream,
or here's one for all you readers with deeper pockets.
Scarf: H&M, here's a similar one.
Shoes: Stuart Weitzman (old), but here is pair at a nice price,
Purse: JJ Winters, mine is from Lipp Boutique,
Earrings: old, here's a pair by my new fav jewelry designer,
Statement Bracelet: Henri Bendel, but here's one,
Others: Stella & Dot Renegade Cluster and Nugget Wrap Bracelets,

For the love of vintage style and great fun, Whitley
