First; if you live in the Queen City, I hope you visit this precious newly built space on the Greenway next to Metropolitan.  It is what I call Charlotte's answer to Bryant Park.  Next; I've had my eye on this skirt from Zara for the last couple of months.  One of the things I was most excited about for my trip to NYC was going shopping there.  I had so much fun putting together this outfit.  The vintage blouse and bracelet belonged to my Great-Grandmother.  I don't normally wear anything with a logo (except my Chaney), but I think these Tory Burch pumps from my favorite high end consignment boutique are just so good looking with the quilting, cap toe and gold detail on the heel. I am in love with my Zoe Lynn & Co. headband hand made by a college friend, and of course, my favorite going out bag.  Back to the skirt... I think there is an age threshold for short skirts, and this skirt is definitely on the mini side.  I will be 36 on my next birthday, but I don't FEEL like I look too old to wear it.  What do you think about women wearing short skirts as they age?  Do you agree about keeping things more conservative?  Could care less about age?

Thanks so much for reading!!
xx-Whitley

  2. I definitely don't think that skirt is too short, but I think it is always about balance..crop top and short skirt..hell no.. billowy top, long blazer.. balance...it is the key to fashion and life in general :)

  7. Dying over the details: the skirt (are you kidding me with the ruffles and studs???), the gold cap toes, and the vintage blouse - duh. Flawless.

  8. Personally I figure if you've got the goods, or feel you can pull it off, wear it. You've definately got the gams. Wear what you want.

I am friggin' in LOVE with that skirt! How could you pass it by? The fact that you've paired it with your Grandma's blouse is divine. I won't even talk about the shoes...

  18. I can't believe this is your g-ma's blouse (I mean I can, knowing you, but at the same I can't, ya know? ;)Is this one of the Zara pieces you bought in NYC? SUPER cute and what an awesome find for the shoes! I have my eye on a pair like these but now I may look to consignment seeing you were able to find a pair.

As far a short skirts go or age appropriate items I keep going back and forth on a decision. I think there are certain items that probably need to be retired as we age but with legs like yours you'll be able to wear short skirts for years to come!

  19. Whitley, I am so in LOVE with this outfit, it's not even funny! That top is gorgeous, and would look perfect for so many different occasions. You are one hot mama in that skirt. Your legs are gorgeous, so I would definitely flaunt them. I don't believe there is an age limit for short skirts, as long as it looks appropriate. I fight with my Mom about that all the time. She is 62 but has an adorable figure. She won't wear anything that's above her knee, because she says she's too old. I always tell her she looks great in skirts and a few inches above your knee really won't make that much of a difference. If you've got it, flaunt it!

    1. Jenny, you are so dear, as always. I love you sharing that about your mom! I am with you.. my mom's got great legs... she actually wore a short dress (and jacket suit) to our wedding, so she could dance the night away. Your adorable mama needs to go for it!
